MindMeister

Mindmeister is a fast and simple tool to build your mind maps online. Mind mapping is a visual form of note taking that uses colours, images and words to provide an overview of a topic and its complex information, allowing families to understand, create new ideas and build connections. You could use mind mapping to encourage creative writing, or identifying the key themes in a topic or story.

Activities to try at home

1) Set yourselves a challenge as a family. Make a mind map to help you think about how you are going to meet that challenge - what do you need to do, who will help, which family member will carry out which task, how long will it take. Your challenge can be anything from baking a cake to learning a language together!

2) Use the SWOT template to help discuss with your children their strengths and weaknesses and opportunities for development and threats to that. Set some tasks to help address the weaknesses and threats (e.g. count to ten when I get angry)

3) Make a mind map of all your ideas of how you can learn together online as a family. It might be other sites from the Digital Families site, things you've tried at school or at work or other ideas you've picked up together.
